Dear Brethren,
We are discussing consolidating Mechanics Lodge #66 and Star in the East Lodge #60. This newly formed lodge will be located in Old Town at our present location.
Star in the East Lodge #60 will vote on the consolidation at the stated meeting on Monday, March 27, 2006 at 7:30 PM. Please plan on attending this history making meeting!!!
We will retain the number (60) for the new lodge and a new name has been suggested of Marsh Island Lodge #60. We are open to suggestions on the name change, so please provide us with feedback ASAP if you have any ideas on what you feel the new name should be.
This is a new undertaking for both lodges and it is something we should be excited about. It is unfortunate we will lose a lodge in the District and State, but we can both gain, as well as the whole Fraternity, provided the consolidation is approved by the members of both lodges and Grand Lodge.
We have formed a core group consisting of the Worshipful Master, Sr. Warden, Jr. Warden, Secretary and Treasurer from both lodges to discuss the details of this consolidation. We ask that no one else attend the meetings at this time, as too many people slow down the process of discussion. We do however need and greatly solicit the brethrens help. Numerous committees will need to be formed; viz. by-laws committee, naming committee, and building maintenance committee to name a few, with members from both lodges working together to help form this new lodge.
We will be adding information on a regular basis to the website about the consolidation process. Please review the site regularly so you can be kept up-to-date on the process. A survey and a question and answer page will be added soon; which will help defray the cost of mass mailings, but will not replace letters to the brethren as not all members have email.
