 SECRETARY MONTHLY REPORT

September 07, 2006

Attendees: Chester Davis Jr., Robert Miles, Peter Danforth, and Carroll Spencer

The meeting was held at the home of Chester Davis Jr. The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Chester Davis Jr. at 7:00 P.M. Chairperson Davis read the June 01 report. The minutes for the June 01, 2006 meeting were voted on and approved. The treasurer’s report was read  and approved.

Old Business: A controversy was discussed about the previous meetings vote on purchasing the Past Master apron and case. The club has already paid for these items, even though the lodge voted previously voted on purchasing the apron. It was suggested the lodge pay the club for the apron and case. A vote was taken and the motion passed to keep “as is” and Not have the lodge reimburse the club, with 3 in favor and 1 against. At the previous meeting, agreement was made for purchasing the Maine Textbook and Cipher for all new members after they receive the Master Mason Degree.   A new vote was taken with a unanimous decision to not follow through with purchasing these items to give away and not to purchase the auto emblems for sale at this time.

New Business:

Denise Davis donated a homemade afghan to the club to be used for a fundraiser. Denise was thanked by all members. We agreed to sell tickets @ $1 each or 6 for $5.00 and draw the winning ticket at the December meeting; this way we can sell tickets at the Riverfest, at the breakfast’s as well as lodge meetings. Chester offered to make up the tickets. Membership was discussed. We will contact all members to see if they still wish to remain as members, as we very poor attendance at the last several meetings and functions we sponsor. The bylaws were covered in depth with numerous revisions made. Chester will type up the revisions and print new copies for all members. Life membership was discussed by Chester. We will think about this and table the topic until a later meeting. Flowers for funerals versus a financial donation were discussed. We will evaluate each death of brethren belonging to our lodge on a case by case basis and determine what to give, if anything. A maximum donation  per death was set.

                                                Respectfully Submitted,

                                                Chester H. Davis Jr., Secretary
